Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when applying to the Michigan Business Initiative, including your name, business name, email address, phone number, and business details. We also collect standard website usage data through analytics.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to process your application, communicate with you about the program, provide the services included in the MBI program, and improve our offerings. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to improve your browsing experience and analyze website traffic. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.
Your choices and regional rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete certain personal information we hold, or to opt out of specific types of processing. If you would like to exercise those rights, contact us using the information below and include enough detail for us to verify your request. We respond within a reasonable timeframe consistent with applicable law.
Data retention
We retain application and account information for as long as needed to provide the Michigan Business Initiative services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Analytics data may be stored in aggregated or de-identified form for longer periods. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it in line with our internal policies.
Third-party services
We use trusted service providers for hosting, email delivery, analytics, and communications. Those vendors process data on our behalf under contractual terms that require appropriate security and confidentiality. We do not sell your personal information.
SMS and phone marketing
This section governs text message (SMS) and telephone communications between you and Michigan Business Initiative (MBI). Our SMS and phone practices follow the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices, and the carrier-level A2P 10DLC rules.
Consent
When you check the SMS consent box on one of our forms you expressly consent to receive SMS text messages and follow-up phone calls from Michigan Business Initiative at the mobile number you provide. The consent control is unchecked by default and you must take an affirmative action to opt in. Consent to receive SMS and phone communications is not a condition of purchasing any service or being accepted into the program.
Message types
Messages we may send include application confirmation, onboarding scheduling, project updates, appointment reminders, customer support, and occasional program announcements relevant to your application or active engagement.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on your inquiry and engagement level. You may receive up to ten messages per month while your application is active. Frequency is reduced after onboarding and may rise again around launch milestones.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge fees for sending and receiving SMS messages. Michigan Business Initiative is not responsible for any charges imposed by your carrier.
Opt out
You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any text message we send, by emailing hello@mibusinessinitiative.com with the subject “STOP SMS,” or by calling +1 (734) 415-8844. After opting out you will receive a single confirmation message and no further SMS messages unless you opt back in.
Help
For help with SMS communications reply HELP to any message, email hello@mibusinessinitiative.com, or call +1 (734) 415-8844.
Mobile number sharing
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information shared with subprocessors (the messaging platform that delivers the SMS) is limited to what is required to send and receive the messages on our behalf.
